About the business

About the business

Who is Secure Nerds?

Secure Nerds is a Brisbane managed IT provider and a registered business name of Foot Print IT Services Pty Ltd, ABN 23 619 314 108. The company has traded since May 2017 and supports Australian small businesses with IT support, cyber security, cloud, websites and phones under one agreement.

Where are you based?

Our office is at Level 4, 260 Queen Street, Brisbane City QLD 4000. Onsite attendance runs from there across South East Queensland, and we attend site in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra as well.

Which cities do you actually attend in person?

Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, plus the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay and Redland. Hobart and Darwin are remote-managed because we have no technicians there, and we say so rather than listing every capital.

How big is the business we should be to work with you?

The package is priced for businesses up to five users, which is where most of our clients start. Larger teams are quoted on the same basis, and the per-user rate falls as the team grows.

Pricing and payment

Pricing and payment

How much does managed IT cost?

The complete package starts at $1,000 per month excluding GST for businesses up to five users. That covers platform licensing, the website and domain, DMARC, managed EDR and ITDR with a 24/7 SOC, basic SEO and business-hours remote support.

What is not included in the monthly price?

Onsite visits are charged separately, and project work and hardware are quoted and approved before they start. Premium SEO beyond the basics is a separate engagement. Everything outside the package is named on the pricing page rather than buried in the agreement.

Is there a setup fee or a lock-in contract?

No to both. There is no setup fee and no minimum term. Licences, domains and tenancies are registered to your business, so if you leave you take them with you.

Do you charge per device or per user?

Per user. Staff commonly have a laptop, a phone and sometimes a desktop as well, and charging per device penalises you for that.

Do you really manage the website and domain too?

Yes, and it is the part most IT providers decline. Hosting, updates, domain renewals and DNS are in the package, which also makes DMARC possible — whoever controls DNS controls whether your email can be spoofed.

Can you work alongside our existing IT provider?

Yes. Some clients keep an existing provider for day-to-day support and bring us in for security alone. We will tell you honestly if that split is going to cause problems.

Do you support Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?

Both, and migration between them. The package covers whichever you are on, and we have no commercial reason to push one over the other.

Is your support really available 24/7?

The security operations centre is genuinely 24/7 — analysts monitoring detections overnight and on weekends. Our help desk runs business hours AEST. Those are two different things and we keep them separate rather than advertising round-the-clock support.

What is the Essential Eight?

Eight controls published by the Australian Cyber Security Centre that stop most of what actually happens to small business. Mandatory for federal government entities, and increasingly expected by insurers and larger customers in tenders.

What happens if we get breached?

We isolate the affected machines, establish what was reached and restore from a backup that has already been test-restored. You get a written account of what happened and what changed.

Getting started

Getting started

How do we start?

Send your headcount and what you run now through the quote form, or call 1300 500 004. We look at what exists, then give you a written scope and price, normally within two business days.

How long does it take to move providers?

It depends on what has to move. We document what exists first, agree a cutover order and move the pieces so you keep trading. Email is normally the riskiest part, so it is planned carefully.

What do you need from us to quote?

How many staff use a computer, whether you are on Microsoft or Google, whether there is a server, who looks after it today, and where you are based.
