Secure Nerds provides managed IT to Australian not-for-profits and charities, including claiming the discounted Microsoft and Google non-profit licensing most organisations never apply for. Volunteer access management and donor data protection are built in. The complete package costs from $1,000 per month for up to five users.
You’re running on a grant-funded budget with volunteers who rotate through, and you hold donor and client data that matters more than most commercial records. The good news is that Microsoft and Google both discount heavily for eligible non-profits — and most of the organisations we meet have never claimed it.
What changes
Generic managed IT assumes everyone sits at a desk on a company laptop. For most of our clients almost nothing about that is true.
Microsoft and Google both run donated and discounted licensing for eligible non-profits. We check eligibility and handle the application — it often covers a meaningful share of the IT budget.
Access that is easy to grant and, more importantly, easy to remove. Dormant volunteer accounts are one of the most common ways small organisations get compromised.
Donor details, client case notes and grant reporting. Backed up, access-controlled, and handled so a board can answer questions about it confidently.
The package
What you get doesn’t change by industry. How it’s configured does — and that is most of the value.

For businesses up to 5 users. Larger teams are quoted on the same basis — nothing gets unbundled.

Sector questions
Most registered charities and many not-for-profits are, though the criteria differ between Microsoft and Google. We check it as part of onboarding rather than assuming either way.
We provide a written position against the ACSC Essential Eight, which gives a board something concrete rather than a reassurance. It’s the same assessment we give clients preparing for insurance or tenders.
Be direct with us about the number. Between non-profit licensing and consolidating what you’re already paying several vendors for, the real figure is often lower than organisations expect. If it isn’t workable we’ll say so rather than sell you a cut-down package that leaves the security out.
